Acidity and acid reflux

You know that feeling well - right after a rich meal at the local restaurant, where you indulged on a dish with oodles of baked cheese. Later that evening, you feel a sourness in your throat and a reflux of acidic bile. This is probably because your digestive system is rebelling against a level of fat it is not feeling equipped to break down just yet.

Instead of buying a branded antacid tablet, here's a simple kitchen remedy that might help:

Cumin Concentrate:

Takes a few minutes to concoct.

Here's how:
  • Bring 8 oz of water to a full boil
  • Add a full teaspoon of raw cumin seeds to it.
  • Let it keep boiling until the water reduces by half.
  • Switch off, let it cool completely. Strain out the cumin seeds and drink the concentrate liquid.

You can even increase the quantity of water to 10 oz, add the same amount of cumin seeds, drink half the concentrate and drink the other half in a few hours.

The cumin concentrate aids digestion, so your stomach 'gets to work' on the heavy meal and stops the acid reflux.
